West African Dance & Drumming

Western Africa includes places like Mali, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria and Guinea. So when we emerge into the culture aspect with Drum and Dance, all these places share similarities. West Africa has very grounding, liberating and expressive movements. Every step, rhythm, song, gesture and instrument has deep meaning. We drum and dance for ceremonies, celebrations, weddings, funerals, coming of age, healing and more. In classes we get a taste of this very important aspect in West Africa which is West African Drum and Dance.
